About The Old North Bridge Hounds
The Old North Bridge Hounds (ONBH),
established in 1969, is one of eleven hunt clubs in
New England. ONBH is registered with
the Masters of Foxhounds Association (MFHA), and
is run in accordance with the standards and
guidelines set forth by the MFHA.
ONBH engages in drag hunting, not live
foxhunting. Our hunt country, primarily in Middlesex
County, Massachusetts, is a combination of suburban and
rural territories. To avoid backyards and busy highways,
it is necessary for our hounds to follow a scent laid on
a prescribed course. A drag hunt also insures
participants a nice run every time the hounds go out.
Our pack of hounds is kenneled in
Carlisle, Massachusetts and is supported by the annual
dues and contributions of our members. We hunt
Tuesday and Saturday mornings during the hunting
seasons. Specific times and locations are printed in a
"fixture card" which is
provided to members.
The fall hunting season begins in
September and ends on the Saturday after Thanksgiving,
weather permitting. The spring hunting season
begins in mid-April and and ends on Memorial Day.
While the hunt is based on the traditions,
etiquette, and dress of foxhunting, the people who
comprise this group are relaxed, informal and friendly.
They love horses, hounds, the outdoors, and a good
time. We invite you to get to
know us!
